Speakers Bureau Presents: Working with the Enemy: German, Italian, and Japanese Prisoners of War in Iowa during the Second World War
June 17 @ 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm
Save Our Depot in Red Oak will welcome historian Chad Timm on June 17, 2026, for a presentation on Iowa’s little-known World War II prisoner of war camps. Chad Timm explores life in the camps at Algona and Clarinda, the labor POWs provided to local farmers, and the complex relationships between prisoners and communities. This program sheds light on a surprising chapter of Iowa’s wartime history and the humanity found amid conflict.
This program is part of Humanities Iowa’s statewide Speakers Bureau.
