Open Book Program at Coralville Public Library
February 21 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
Join Humanities Iowa and CultureALL for an Open Book program at Coralville Public Library — an engaging hour of storytelling, dialogue, and authentic personal connection.
Meet the Books:
- Seso Marentes – An award-winning artist and leader in Iowa’s Latino community, Seso overcame significant challenges, including leaving middle school early, and has become a mentor to many. He shares stories about resilience, self-discovery, and the value of every individual.
- Dr. Vincent Lewis – Born and raised in Des Moines, Dr. Lewis served in the U.S. Army and then used the GI Bill to earn his degree at Drake University. He dedicated nearly 40 years to Des Moines Public Schools, retiring as the first African American high school principal in the district.
This free program invites participants to hear, reflect, and engage with these powerful stories — sparking dialogue and connection across diverse experiences and perspectives.
